I mostly provide geotechnical advice for infrastructural projects. Besides smaller projects I have worked on two large projects that each lasted for over a year. I have provided reinforcement advice for the foundations of public buildings in Groningen to make them earthquake proof. I have also worked on "De Groene Boog", which is the construction of a new highway near Rotterdam,the Netherlands. I was part of the design team for the entrance ramps of the tunnel, which consisted of sheetpiling and foundation calculations.

Within this position, I am the link between the management of the advisory group/business line and the young employees. I act on this by joining management meetings and requesting input from the young employees. This is done by organising input session for employees to give their opinion. The important subjects are taken to the management, together with some solutions for both me and the management to act upon.

A research has to be conducted in order to finalise my MSc. The topic is modelling of theconstruction process of a tunnel in two different finite element programs. The two pro-grams will be compared for modelling the interaction between the ground and the tunnellining.

Assisting the teacher that organises the fieldwork in which the students have to create a geological map of an area of 50 square kilometres. This has to be done at the fieldwork area, which is the South of France and within three weeks. As a student assistant it is my job to support the students in creating the map but most of all let them think about the geology in the area and help them set their priorities. Since the students are divided over several villages and only one supervisor is present in every village, I will be the first person the students at my location at the time will contact for emergencies.

My tasks are to make sure my board members are doing their tasks and be the one that has the final responsibility. When necessary, help my board members completing their tasks. Together with the treasurer I am the contact for our sponsors and other companies and I am also responsible for the promotion of the activities we organise.

For the 122,5 birthday of the Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging, a week full of activities is being organized. I am responsible for the financial part of the Halflustrum. Therefore I had to make an estimate of all the money flows create sponsorship packages. Afterwards I will have to round everything up and present the balance to the members of the Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging.
