NFPA 1001 certified firefighter I and II, 9 years paid-on-call experience with Maple Ridge Fire Rescue and Township of Langley Fire Dept responding to emergency calls. I’m currently FT permanent in the Emergency Operations Center at FortisBC gas. I possess mechanical, electrical aptitudes and life safety knowledge from my experience as a First responder and as a 2nd year trade carpenter. I’m familiar with the daily use and maintenance of heavy tools and machinery such as auto extrication equipment, firefighting hand tools, chain saws, cutters, hand torches and grinders. I have experience with heavy equipment such as fire truck apparatus, forklifts, and bobcats. I also maintain a healthy lifestyle that allows me to work under physical stress for extended periods of time. This experience along with my previous senior leadership roles as a district supervisor and district manager have provided me the opportunity to gain a high level of emotional intelligence. I excel at risk assessment and operations management in high stress environments along with strong communication skills in critical situations. As a first responder, I have developed my skills in emergency situations, problem solving, acting with due diligence and attention to detail. I'm able to focus and execute a task or job under stress and in all types of weather environments day and overnight hours.
