Kurt H. is a Principal Engineer at Datto, Inc.. Colleagues describe him as "I had the opportunity to work with Kurt for close to seven years at Borland. Kurt is an outstanding software engineer and architect and is among the best I have ever come across in my entire professional career. His contributions to the core database engine (BDE) were truly outstanding. He designed and built many of the core modules and what an elegant and solid foundation he built! Kurt was the key engineer behind Borland database products winning all industry performance benchmarks. He is fanatic about performance. All I have to do is seed an idea and he will turn it into an elegant implementation – taking into consideration all angles. Given a challenging problem, I could always depend on him to deliver things and he would exceed all expectations in quality, time and functionality. He is very quiet, humble, and unassuming – but can he design and build software! Behind most of the innovations behind Borland’s core database engine, you can see Kurt’s hand. I learned a lot from Kurt in software design and performance. His work in our group resulted in multiple patents issued to him. He was a true Borland Barbarian(!) and set an example for others to follow with a “can do” attitude. He was always improving and optimizing things that may already seem perfect. I would recommend Kurt strongly without any reservations. You give him the most complex engineering task and he would deliver – always.
