As part of the Wide Bandgap group at Coherent, I work to research, develop, and optimize the growth of single crystals of silicon carbide (SiC), a semiconducting material which is helping to make electric vehicles more efficient.

Working in the research group of Prof. Robert Cava, I used high-temperature synthesis techniques to create new inorganic materials with novel magnetic and electronic properties and grow high-quality crystals for detailed studies of their properties through collaboration with condensed-matter physicists.

As a student in the research group of Prof. Hemamala Karunadasa, I synthesized and characterized the structures and optoelectronic properties of novel metal-halide semiconductors with potential applications as solar absorbers and light emitters.

Assisted in teaching undergraduate organic chemistry courses.

I worked in the research group of Prof. Jin Z. Zhang to synthesize and characterize nanomaterials, including hollow gold nanospheres and magnetite nanoparticles functionalized with gold.
