Having completed my first internship, working with the Sunshine Coast Council, I have gained an incredibly insightful experience. I was able to get involved with the Place Making team and apply and improve my skills across community consultation, collaborative design, and project development. It was great to experience the team-based design approach held by a large organisation, and the connected and positive work culture within the council made this internship a breeze. I was able to take part in multiple projects with key responsibilities in: • Researching of previous projects and aligning with company vision• Assist in developing the Blackall Street Streetscape project (Woombye) planting palette • Assist in designing the Blackall Street Streetscape project (Woombye) planting layout• Researching and collating ideas surrounding benefits of human centric design and the benefits of accessible green spaces • Contributing to discussions surrounding internal and community engagement in preparation for project commencement• Assist in contributing to the improvement of digital community engagement & public branding (Bonus, making use of digital marketing knowledge from university studies)
