About Kurt Willson
Sustainability is my passion. Sustainability is one of the few fields that is applicable to most every other field. This diversity was center point when I was the Student Director of Sustainability at the University of Maryland. My committee had projects including installing solar powered trash cans, protecting woods near campus, and advocating for the university's carbon neutrality date to be accelerated. Alongside sustainability, I love maps. I have two maps and a globe in my office, and I have to stop myself from buying more or else there will be no more space to put them. This love for maps and cartography is what drew me to GIS and geography. I could spend hours messing around in ArcGIS Pro or Google Earth making maps and seeing how data relates spatially.My enthusiasm for bettering the world around me is what connects these two ideas.
