I have developed an innovative, peer-reviewed method for businesses and organizations to calculate a more accurate carbon footprint from the use of grid-purchased electricity in Ontario. The method also allows them to properly account for emission reductions from conservation and shifted consumption, and if implemented, would have a positive impact on grid stability and participation in conservation and demand response. My methodology has been published in the Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineers (TCSME) and I aim to continue this research under the government with hopes of eventual province-wide implementation.
