Every PT has a passion to help— It is a passion that defines us, motivates us, and makes our profession one of the most fulfilling. I have found the most important aspect of my practice is the ability to break through the 4th wall and drive instant connection though the use of empathetic listening, understanding the 6 emotional needs, and the conditioning engrained in us as children. There is always more to our patients story then the pain they're experiencing and helping them seen through that is key towards creating lasting change.I found physical therapy after an orthopedic injury during my soccer career which created my initial passion: return to sport and improving that aspect of our profession. This passion led me to EXOS where I fulfilled my dream job. In working with professional athletes I learned there is way more to health than exercise, however it did also teach me that the system the person is put into dictates their success. So here comes the story I am in now: taking that passion and finding the system for the everyday athlete to succeed. From my profile below, here are some clarifiers about my experience:—Prokaleo has been the journey of taking the pro-sport mindset and bringing it to the everyday person. I’ve iterated and re-iterated many times and honestly, I’m still figuring out how to merge pain science with movement science to make a resilient independent patient.—Azusa Pacific PT is based on movement science and stemmed away from the special test world PT is founded in. They create a well-rounded clinician with an emphasis in advanced clinical reasoning--At EXOS I was able to learn their unique methodology, receive their performance specialist certification, learn how rehab and performance intertwine.--Kaiser Orthopedic Residency refined my clinical reasoning and advanced my manual therapy skills to improve my overall treatment and plan of care efficiency.--Teaching at Azusa Pacific vastly improved my communication, understanding of learning styles, and ability to convey complex thought simply. Please do reach out if you have any questions about me or my experience!-Kurt
