First and foremost I love solving problems with code, software integrations and elegance. It started for me in highschool before computers were everywhere. My highschool yearbook was none-digital and consisted of hundreds of film photos taken throughout the school year. The yearbook committee dreamed of a photo index - reference pages in the back of the book which listed every student's name and the page numbers they had photos on. My plan: for every photo in the yearbook a volunteer would enter the student’s name and the page number into a two-column Excel spreadsheet. Once all the photos were entered, my naive Visual Basic program would read the collection of spreadsheets and produced an alphabetical list of names and page numbers -- the photo index was born! Students, teachers and parents loved this new index as they could instantly find themselves in the yearbook. Programming felt like a superpower back in 1997 and I’ve been hooked ever since.Fast-forward to 2020 and I’m still developing my superpowers everyday. For example, I recently learned Golang (2016) and have since released public code to work with the Tenable.io API in Github. In 2019, I was selected by Tenable to present my talk at their EDGE conference - ‘Going Further with the Tenable.io API’. I enjoyed the experience of presenting and the feedback I received. I would also say Golang is currently my favourite language.Over my +20 year career I have traveled around and spent hundreds of hours in talks / discussions with experts on subjects around operational security, software development and hacking culture. I’ve attended RSA, Blackhat, DEFCON, BSides, NSEC, HOPE, and SecTOR. I’ve learned and trained in a variety of CTFs and virtual cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Linode, IBM.) I like to learn what’s new and relevant, while applying my craft from computer science principles. How do I balance my technical passions? With ultra-marathon running and vegan cooking. Fundamentally, I believe a healthy nourished body and mind lead to exceptional performance and happiness. I’ve completed 12+ marathon distance races including a 42.2km, 50km, 50mi. In 2020 I am (re-)attempting 100miles at Sulphur Spring. Wish me luck!I’m always seeking new opportunities that develop me further as a cybersecurity professional while leveraging my passion for software development and software integrations.--------------Here is my Tenable EDGE 2019 talk:* https://www.tenable.com/edge [speaker video]Here are some relevant Github projects I've created:* https://github.com/whereiskurt/tiogo
