Divert NS is a not for profit corporation working in partnership with Nova Scotians to improve the province’s environment, economy, and quality of life by reducing, reusing, recycling and recovering resources. Divert NS manages a network of independently owned Enviro-Depots in 78 locations throughout the province, and works in partnership with Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change, the 54 municipalities across the province, industry and academia. Recognized globally as an innovator in waste diversion solutions and a leader in Nova Scotia’s waste diversion efforts, Divert NS delivers education and awareness programs, partners with municipalities and industry to develop and implement stewardship agreements, provides funding for research and development, and promotes innovation through the development of value-added manufacturing.

Three Oaks Innovations (TOI) is a non-profit organization established by UPEI, which has the primary responsibility for the technology transfer and commercialization activities which take place at or through the university. My responsibilities included:• Acting as a liaison between industry and UPEI to establish new partnerships and collaborations regarding research development and commercialization activities.• Developing business models for new innovation based opportunities.• Working with research teams to identify IP that has sufficient commercial value to engage in commercialization practices. This includes the creation and filing of patents with appropriate agents and regulators.• Conducting market intelligence and develop competitive strategies for technologies, projects and proposals.• Identifying out licensing opportunities for IP.• Developing marketing strategies for UPEI technologies to attract licensees.• Managing and executing agreements including: MTA, NDA, Collaboration Research Agreement, Consulting Agreements, Option and Evaluation Agreements.

During my contract, I constructed a business plan and strategy roadmap for the SMU - Industry Liaison Office.

Pharmafor provides business implementation services to small and emerging Pharmaceutical, Diagnostic, Medical Device and ICT where it relates to these companies at both strategic and "hands on" levels. These include practical start up help through to exit strategies and incorporating business plan development, organisational development, executive coaching, management mentoring, portfolio review, risk analysis, project management, business development, funding readiness, strategic alliances and partnerships, collaborations, deal brokering and exit strategy development and execution.

Founded in 1999, Oxford Capital Partners is a specialist investment manager, managing private equity funds on behalf of institutional and private investors. Specifically, OCP focuses on growth capital and venture capital: nurturing innovative businesses at a point in their development when strategic and financial assistance will significantly enhance the opportunities for international success. During my 4 month contract with OCP, my role included:• Project manage and author a Senior UK government initiated report proposing a new innovative scheme for CleanTech Incubator roll-out within the UK.• Chair a series of working groups with nationally recognised leaders in CleanTech to evaluate the industry environment and introduce/refine the proposed scheme.• Deliver a presentation to the Shadow Chancellor detailing the report process and finalised recommendation.

OBN is a not-for-profit business network which provides comprehensive support for biotech and medtech companies in the Oxford and South-East England biocluster and beyond. OBN's activities can be summarised as networking, partnering, group purchasing, advice and information dissemination. During my employment, my role included:• Project manage and author the OBN BioCluster Report 2008. The report charted the progress and continued growth and development of the Oxfordshire biotechnology cluster. Specifically, the report investigated and analyzed areas including; company funding, product investment, IPO and location analysis.• Business development responsibilities for OBN in attracting membership and participation for monthly and yearly networking events.• Exhibiting at national partnering conferences.

• Certified 80+ students in a range of PADI programs including; Discover Scuba Diver (DSD) and Open Water Diver (OW).
