Global BrightLight (GBL) was a non-profit organization, started by Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers, that sold solar lamps to the 1.4B people in the world that don't have access to electricity. The goal of the organization was to alleviate the pain and unintended consequences of using kerosene and firewood as a means of light, as well as allowing people to cook, do homework, and learn together after the sun goes down.• Maintained & managed budgets, sales, donations, tax filings, banking & import/export relationships• Helped the GBL team place 60,000+ solar lanterns in 7 countries; ~250,000 people breathing cleaner air, reducing respiratory risks, and enabling children/citizens to study/learn after the sun goes down• Project managed creation of mobile site, including PayPal interface

• Strategic planning for Southeastern U.S. real estate development initiatives. Responsibilities included financial modeling, regional plans, and manufacturing workforce programming. Similar to GitHub in that we let software developers host code, share code, and vote on useful entries, but we hosted individual pieces of software code instead of downloading an entire application to then search for what you need. Involved in the front-end UI and beginner knowledge of back-end MySQL. Provided this tool to colleges to help students collaborate on projects for faster learning and development.
