Kurt Pregler is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC w/ Honours), Project Management Professional (PMP), IT Professional (ITP), and a Qualified Technology Expert (QTE) and ICD.D Board Director with extensive experience in technology and business. He has consulted to clients in the Transportation, Retail, Telecommunications, Not-For-Profit, and Government sectors, providing management consulting, project management, and technical advisory services. Kurt is currently the CIO for Metro Vancouver’s regional transportation authority which provides integrated transit services across 23 communities, moving more than 500,000 people per day. He is responsible for all aspects of the agency’s technology strategy, cybersecurity, portfolio delivery, and day-to-day operations. Prior to taking on the role of CIO, Kurt was seconded to the Program Director role for the Compass Card & Fare Gate Project in 2015. In this role, he was tasked with helping to turn the project around, after lengthy delays and technical issues. Within a year, he had led his team to successfully deliver Compass, one of Metro Vancouver’s largest and most complex public-facing transformation projects. While in previous leadership roles at TransLink, Kurt established the IT project management office. This involved developing the agency’s first enterprise-wide portfolio management approach to engage business units in an integrated IT-planning process. He also led the development of a product management approach for its systems support practices and establishing software development lifecycle practices to increase the value of IT application delivery services to the enterprise. Kurt's skills are suited to multi-stakeholder engagements requiring attention to change management and strong communication strategies. Well-regarded for his strong communication skills and ability to effectively bridge communications between technical and non-technical personnel, he brings a pragmatic and keenly analytic approach to addressing business issues and a personal touch to leadership situations.
