CurrentTransforming Urban Blight to Sustainable Beauty, one landscape at a time.We are building an organization that will affect the economic and social welfare of depressed urban neighborhoods, by installing Florida-Friendly Landscapes, using deep-mulch planting techniques, recycled mulch, donated plants, employing the disabled, and engaging community organizations. We produce revenue for operations from community plants sales, Florida-Friendly Landscape installations, social enterprises and gifts from institutional, municipal and private grants. We also form strategic relationships with visionary community business leaders. We improve property values by installing deep-mulch tropical landscapes to replace areas covered with sand, weeds, trash, glass, or unsightly, neglected, or vacant properties. Then we plant water-stingy, shade-producing, Florida-Friendly plants, according to the individual needs of the site.We affect communities by engaging many neighborhood, religious, social & civic associations to organize areas that need landscape transformation. They supply the demand for change and volunteer labor. We supply materials, strong backs, expertise, plants and vision. The result from this effort is a more engaged community, with strong relationships and the common experience of adopting a section of town as their own, making it attractive, and watching it change from what was once a blighted eyesore, to a lush, tropical landscape that compliments any neighborhood. It's like affirmative action for disadvantaged communities, combined with Neighborhood Watch, Habitat for Humanity, and Growing Power, all working together to build property values, increase personal equity, increase property tax revenues, increase business interest, and build relations between stakeholders within and surrounding Blighted Urban Landscapes.
