Ambler Arboretum of Temple University is the University’s public botanical garden, outdoor classroom and living laboratory serving as an educational resource modeling the art and science of horticulture and environmental responsibility while fostering research, celebrating the achievements of women in horticulture, preserving the historic significance of the campus and highlighting the health benefits of nature, plants and gardening.• Guide Direction, Priorities and Decisions of the Arboretum; work to acquire national recognition and accreditation; communicate and collaborate with an Advisory Committee; Develop 5 year strategic plan• Supervise Arboretum Horticultural Staff and Campus Administrative Staff, student workers, volunteers and interns; hiring, evaluation through the PDP process, writing position descriptions• Create and Manage Budget• Fundraise; Grant Writing and management; Cultivate and Foster Donor relationships, plan and implement fundraising events• Teach 1-2 3-credit courses per semester, Canvas online course platform, Adjunct Professor• Develop and implement new community and professional programming opportunities, develop connections with schools• Expand reach into the regional and university community, developing partnerships and collaborations• Write web content, social media posts and blog entries; create content for weekly emails; manage contact database• Representing the organization at national, state and local conferences and symposia• Work with Field Station Director to facilitate research on campus• collaborate with campus and university leadership and outside contractors and organizations and governmental agencies including FEMA in the recovery of the Arboretum from catastrophic tornado damage incurred in 2021.

Currently teach the Woody Plant Identification I & II and Landscape Management courses. Exploring interactive, engaging and innovative ways to identify plants, their cultural needs, appropriate use in the landscape as well as the influence of horticulture and plants on the culture of society. Attempting to instill in my students an understanding that horticulture and landscape design and architecture play a bigger role in our culture beyond the project or garden location - that decisions they make may have implications far reaching into society and generations. Strong focus on practical real-world applications, sustainability and our changing climate.

Formerly taught Woody Plant Identification - Designed and implemented 26 week woody-plant identification course for adult learners covering deciduous and broadleaf evergreen trees, shrubs and groundcovers.Currently creates and implements adult education programs on various horticulture topics.

Creates and implements professional development opportunities for professionals in the green industry including webinars, conferences and workshops. Conducts in-field consultation and researches solutions to problems. Member of the Green Industry and Tree Fruit Teams.

Created and implemented horticulture curricula, lectures, presentations, workshops, hands-on activities and assessments for students aged 14-21 in a Career and Technology High School Setting (Vo-Tech). Advised the FFA Club. Coordinated fundraisers including the operation of a profitable floral shop and production greenhouse.

Coordinated the educational sessions of the Annual APGA conference, managed the resource materials on the APGA website. Coordinated the development and implementation of various regional APGA professional development and public garden awareness opportunities.

Cared for the horticultural display areas throughout the Essex County Park System. Project manager for 2 forest regeneration projects (22 acres and 14 acres) including contractor oversight, plant selection, record keeping and follow-up. Acted as liaison between friends groups and the parks department in order to maintain the historical integrity of the park system while addressing modern uses and conditions. Maintained greenhouses, produced annual display crop. Maintained horticulture displays at the County zoo, including researching habitat appropriate plant materials for a variety of zoo animals. Reviewed and managed park bids and oversight of outsourced park maintenance contracts. Consulted with Essex County Environmental center on various environmental. projects.

Created and implemented curriculum, lessons, lectures, workshops, hands-on activities and programs for students in the Landscape Horticulture technologies program enrolled in Introduction to Horticulture and Plant Science.
