This was a contract-hire position through HCL America. In this role, I worked with an R&D mechanical engineering design team in the development of mechanical systems and components for laboratory diagnostic equipment. As a part of this team, I commonly: -Utilized previous engineering and technical experience to inspect or guide the inspection of equipment.-Troubleshooted, established root cause, and provided solutions for technical issues that occurred during testing.-Performed tests on sub-systems, including the development of test procedures, operation of machinery during testing, observation of machinery during tests, and modification of operating parameters to meet the needs of the test. -Processed, analyzed, and reported test results to inform technical and design decisions, and/or evaluate adherence to design criteria.-Developed data analysis and design computer programs/tools for use by engineering teams.-Performed engineering analysis calculations or simulations to drive mechanical and systems design decisions.-Participated in technical reviews and provided guidance to the design team based on information gained while performing assigned tasks and/or based on past mechanical experience.- Executed design changes using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.-Designed specialty tools to be used during testing.-3D printed or worked with fabrication shops to procure prototype and specialty parts.-Assembled prototype sub-systems.-Worked with technicians, equipment operators, and other engineering teams to collect information on machine operation, and to schedule and manage various R&D tasks.

This was my second Professional Internship at Walt Disney World, this time working with the Facility Asset Management team. In this role, I helped manage maintenance and new development projects related to transportation systems, food & beverage locations, merchandise locations, and paving work. My roles at Facility Asset Management primarily consisted of the following:-Hosting weekly meetings and site walks-Managing project finances-Maintaining schedules-Providing progress updates-Coordinating with contractors-Writing scope of work documents-Writing project plans-Preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and associated document packages-Helping to plan future projects by developing more detailed processes for estimating costsAt Facility Asset Management, I worked on rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the following assets/locations:• Sassagoula River Boats• Magic Kingdom Region Cruiser Boats• Walt Disney World Monorail• Walt Disney World Steam Trains• Walt Disney World Parking Lot Trams• Walt Disney World Buses• Disney’s Hollywood Studios merchandise locations• Walt Disney World roads, parking lots, and tramways• EPCOT’s American Adventure Regal Eagle smokehouse I also worked on a number of new development projects.This internship required me to be involved in and understand all aspects of a themed entertainment project, including the following: Engineering, finance, scheduling, planning, contracting, creative design and art direction, manufacturing, construction, safety, standards and codes, operations, maintenance, shipping/handling, quality assurance, etc.

This was my first professional internship at Walt Disney World, where I worked in Quality Engineering, a department under the Worldwide Safety and Health team. While working with Quality Engineering, my role primarily consisted of the following for ride systems, show systems, and transportation systems:-Assisted with reviews and audits of operations/maintenance requirements, practices, and documentation. Verified technical accuracy using related experience/knowledge, and ensured compliance to internal and industry standards. -Developed maintenance job plans and operating procedures documents, applying previous operations and maintenance experience to help improve the usefulness, understandability, and effectiveness of such documents.-Improved maintenance requirements and procedures using knowledge gained from past maintenance experience.-Facilitated communication with internal and external colleagues to ensure the completion of safety-related project deliverables.At Quality Engineering, I spent the majority of my time working toward the following efforts:• Disney Skyliner: Maintenance program development, reviewing/auditing, and documentation• it’s a Small World: Show system maintenance refinement and documentation• Tomorrowland Speedway: Vehicle maintenance documentation• Attraction Vehicle Status Clipping: Documentation refinement for all attractions on property• Tier II Auditing Program: Assistance in auditing maintenance personnel and maintenance documentationThis internship required me to collaborate with a number of groups that are part of Disney Parks, Experience, and Products, as well as Disney contractors. Some of the key Disney partners I worked with included the following: Engineering Services, Sustaining Engineering, Operations, Walt Disney Imagineering, Ride and Show Engineering, Technical Publications, and Safety Services.

This was my second summer of two working as a Ride Technician/Mechanic on third shift. In this role, I typically:-Performed nightly preventative maintenance inspections on roller coasters and various other types of amusement rides, utilizing technical knowledge and an attention to detail to detect, diagnose, and troubleshoot problems with ride systems.-Executed corrective action to repair ride parts or systems, identifying best practices to follow while performing repairs.-Performed routine adjustments, lubrications, and part replacements, as required.Within this job, I worked on a number of attractions, including most of the roller coasters at the park, as well as many flat rides, kiddie rides, water rides, and water slides. My most frequent work locations included the following roller coasters:• Top Thrill Dragster • Millennium Force • Raptor • Rougarou• Gemini • Cedar Creek Mine Ride

This was a semester-long internship/co-op with Great Coasters International, a manufacturer of wooden roller coasters. My experience included the following:- Fabricated, assembled, and inspected (post-manufacture) ride parts and systems for new development and rehab projects.- Utilized practical and technical knowledge to help manage the fabrication, assembly, and/or procurement of ride parts/systems. During this process, I also helped to refine designs and related drawings/documentation, as needed.- Visited job sites to aid in mechanical system installation, shipped ride components, and filled sales orders.I was involved in the following new development projects:• Mystic Timbers at Kings Island • Invadr at Busch Gardens Williamsburg• Jungle Flying Dragon at Happy Valley Chongqing• Great Desert Rally at Happy Valley Chengdu • Wicker Man at Alton Towers Resort I was also involved in a refurbishment project for Wildcat at Lake Compounce

My roles primarily consisted of the following:-Performed safe and efficient operation of roller coasters, large flat rides, and kiddie rides.-Consulted with guests with disabilities in Hospitality Services to generate a list of rides for which they met all ridership criteria.
