Design and develop advanced load cells for Humanoid robotics

Design and development of technologies for various industries including product development. Area includes sensors, microcontrollers, strain gage, carbon fiber, small scale manufacturing.

Managed product specifications, designs, and execution for new technology development and integration aspects of electronics and manufacturing.

Responsibilities include engineering aspects of development for powermeter features, fixes, and related OEM products.

Designed and created functional prototype power meters shown publicly at Interbike 2014. Prototypes were tested by Ray Maker (dcrainmaker.com) with a favourable preview. This development required the design of a custom strain gage, analog front end (ADC), electrical schematics, PCB, mechanical housing design and firmware. Firmware development encompassed the implementing of the ANT+ protocol, interfacing low power sensors, and development of an inertial rotation algorithm. Additionally I devised a method of communicating wirelessly from one powermeter to another for independent measurement of each leg.After conducting rigorous testing, edge cases were found for certain riders which lead to consistent but slightly lower power measurements. I led an investigation by a small 'Tiger Team' to track down and improve accuracy while developing an improved future design. I was able to devise a method for improving the current design to achieve similarly accuracy. Using this knowledge I hand-built several prototypes that were evaluated by Specialized Bicycle Company in conjunction with Etixx - Quick-step leading to the sponsorship of an international cycling team.

Within the Engineering Services Project Engineering group I produced and verified technical reports relating to the Nuclear Power Generation market creating class leading products which maintain the safety and integrity of power plants.For the next generation Nuclear Power Plants based around the SMR (Small modular reactor) architecture I continued conducting experiments for Once Through Steam Generators (OTSG) and contributed several now proprietary ideas in development for mPower.

Originated and verified ASME code based calculations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for nuclear rated pressure vessels and in service components.Designed and conducted experiments for once through steam generators (OTSG) to make major improvements in tube tension prediction preventing buckling which has recently proven to significantly shorten projected life of major nuclear facilities. Additionally provided time and cost estimates for mPower testing, interfaced with manufacturing, project management, and buyers.Worked directly with the customer, and representatives, to ensure strong understanding of the design, execution, and statistics used in technical reports which received outstanding customer feedback. Additional experiments for tube insertion expanded scope and awaiting final approval after accepting draft technical documents.Improved the accuracy for reduced complexity seismic stick model by utilizing advance design of experiments techniques (DOE).

Designed an active suspension controller through simulation (Simulink, 20-Sim) as well as developed a test apparatus to validate theoretical work using FGPA with VHDL, and AVR based microcontroller in C. Sensing ranged from transducers, magnetic sensors, linear potentiometers.

Successfully managed and maintained the paint shop maintenance department tasked with preserving the operation of conveyors, robots, and environmental control systems months before bankruptcy and Chapter 11 restructuring.

Consistently achieved production targets managing line workers assembling engines and wheels with less than 0.2\% error rate.Awarded financial reward under Ideas for Excellence program for inventing tooling to eliminate ergonomic issues on several jobs.

Developed a rescue prediction model using experimental data gathered during trials on the Atlantic Ocean enabling the operator of two offshore rigs to continue using only a single standby vessel when normally two are required.

Assisted with the setup of harsh environment video capture and performed motion analysis leading to improved rescue practices for 150 person inflatable life-rafts commonly used on modern super-liners.
