I get to incubate new businesses across Deloitte's consulting business. To date, I've worked on use cases spanning oil refinery turnarounds, distributed energy resources, and chemical plant operations. I've also gotten to work on establishing joint ventures with some of the firm's most strategic partners. I'm currently spending my time trying to build an analytics business anchored in commercial satellite remote sensing data.

The media company delivers high ­quality content focused on market driven stories, innovative products and services transforming our culture. We add focus and clarity to stories that are missing from the mainstream news cycle; in doing so, we raise awareness on the most important topics impacting the culture.Starting CultureBanx emerged from a personal frustration I’ve had since 2011 when I first started watching business news. I would read about these billion dollar deals taking place everyday around the world and wonder why the business leaders who looked like me weren’t getting coverage in news that often shapes winners and losers in the market. We're addressing that gap at CultureBanx and I'm excited about what the future holds for the business.My role ranged from writing articles, to building and maintaining the platform, to exploiting unobvious distribution channels, to pitching investors and partners. Building something from nothing stretched my skillset in expected and unexpected ways!

Managing the Africa Business Fellowship was an incredible experience. I got to work with my fantastic colleagues at MLT and partners at the Econet Group and African Leadership Network to send 10 talented American business professionals to work for top companies across Africa. Not only was I able to work on something I've been passionate about for years, I got to draw on a host of skills while managing the program - developing a guerilla marketing strategy, pitching the program to potential funding sponsors, identifying the best talent for the program, and more.

As the Africa Rising narrative began to take hold, I started a market research business to help U.S. companies figure out the market landscape in several African countries. Our projects crossed multiple industries, including renewable energy, travel, and agriculture in countries like Uganda, South Africa, and Ghana.

While at GAO, I got to work on engagements like analyzing the impact of Dodd-Frank on structured finance swaps market through outreach to executives at hedge funds, energy companies, and airlines. I also got to assess the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) enterprise risk management and strategic planning.

GMA is doing fantastic work advocating on the behalf of cities across Georgia. I so appreciate them taking a chance on me early in my career. While there, I partnered with GMA leadership to hone and execute the overall strategic vision for the Legislative Policy Council, a group of elected and appointed city officials from across Georgia that oversee GMA's legislative initiatives. I got to revamp the Legislative Policy Council's governance structure, help recruit new members and increase the council's engagement with GMA's lobbying efforts. Further, I led a team of 12 staff in driving 125% increase in city participation in the Hometown Connection Program, a grassroots campaign that connects city officials with their legislators. Over the course of a year, 72 cities hosted 150+ state legislators, resulting in legislative victories on issues like municipal broadband deployment, car tag sales tax, and ethics legislation.
