My name is Kwasa Mathis and I am a graduate of Hampton University with a degree in, Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science. I am interested in television, film and radio/music production.I am a hard worker and fully dedicated to whatever it is that I am doing. My experience includes working at my college radio station, WHOV 88.1 FM, reporting on air, and being a producer. I was also part of CBE: Center of Broadcast Excellence at the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. In this program, students are given the opportunity to operate television studio equipment, direct television/news programs, and learn about television news rooms. Also, during the summer of 2008 I had the pleasure of interning with WHRO (PBS) in Norfolk, VA where I received first hand knowledge and experience in radio and television production, editing, and directing. I’ve worked at NBC Universal in the Page Program where I conducted studio tours and had the ability to go on assignment with the different facets of the company. In the Page Program, I had the opportunity to be the Guest Relations Coordinator where I coordinated positions for shows such as The Marriage Ref and I have also coordinated video shoots for NBC’s Diversity Groups. I also worked with the Global Media department of NBC where I helped to book studios, coordinated the calendars, directed high profile guests to their destinations, and updated billing reports.I was also a Digital Project Manager at TMP World Wide where I was responsible for the management and delivery of projects through all stages of the development cycle. I liaised with several teams all while making sure that projects remained on schedule, within scope, and within budget.Currently, I am the Director of Marketing and Growth at WURD Radio and prior to that, the Digital Media Manager and Morning Drive Producer for the station, which is the only Black-owned and operated station in Pennsylvania and one of only a few in the country. Most recently, I completed the Lenfest Constellation News Leadership Initiative Fellowship for the 2022-2023 season.
