Work on the Common Services team supporting foundational tools to be used by CloudBees products.Took lead on and drove delivery of the internal CloudBees Subscription Service tool. This tool manages and informs CloudBees products about the subscriptions that each organization can now use. Microservice written in Nodejs/Feathersjs.Took ownership of and drove delivery of version 2 of the CloudBees license management tool. This tool creates licenses for CloudBees Jenkins-based products. Version 2 is a complete rewrite in NodeJS/Feathersjs using bootstrap for while I did both front end and backend development. The tool is used daily by products and support. Currently maintaining the project.

Built, deployed, and maintained the CloudBees trial experience for CloudBees Core product on Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform. Through a series of Jenkins scripts, you could create, extend, or remove a complete copy of CloudBees Core which had be specially set up with a custom plugin. After completing setup, the system would email customers that their Core instance was ready to use. Easy for salespeople to use as part of their flow. It would also report on weekly usage. Had to learn Kubernetes cluster management for the project to run. Another highlight was writing a python script that could complete the Jenkins/CloudBees setup wizard automatically making system startup look seamless to customers.Helped build and launch CloudBees Jenkins Advisor. This tool analyzes Jenkins support bundles and automatically diagnose problems, offer suggestions about things that could be improved in your current CloudBees Enterprise Jenkins environment, and track if the status of your bundle over time. The service was both a Jenkins plugin and a Spring server. I also wrote some prototype UIs for the system for customers to do uploads and see trends over time for both the Spring server and for the Jenkins plugin. Service was mentioned on stage during DevOps World/Jenkins World.

Worked on various internal tools for the company including a license-auditor tool which could take an installation of Jenkins and print out a report of all included license types in use by all the libraries whether they came from plugins or not. This was written in a combination of Java & Groovy, and could be run as a Jenkins pipeline. This actually required using some on-disk storage techniques during sort that I thought I'd never have to use outside of college advanced algorithms class. This also served as a prototype app that I used while doing basic testing for our DevOptics product.Built and manage the https://github.com/jenkins-infra/pipeline-steps-doc-generator which is currently used to automatically generate the documentation on the jenkins.io website about the available pipeline steps. In doing so, built a Jenkins plugin manager simulator which essentially can do Jenkins plugin management without having to be able attached to a running version of Jenkins.Created the automation of the CloudBees the technical escrow process involving packaging source code and running documentation into a runnable process enabling an auditor to build a standalone/internet disabled version of a CloudBees Jenkins Operations Center and CloudBees Managed Masters. This was written in Java and was executable as a Jenkins job. Helped test the Jenkins 2 OSS community release, updating documentation, and committing fixes where there were problems. This involved running lots of installs of Jenkins and making lots of updates. Presented at All Things Open 2016 about Jenkins 2.Updated general testing automation framework to enable continuous delivery practices at the company. Worked with creating updates to the Plugin Compatibility Tester along with adding tests to CloudBees internal products. Wrote the first set of engineering testing guidelines/plan for the core engineering team.

Middleware Solutions on IBM PureApplication Systems.Created the networking management system for the rack. This covered everything from monitoring network devices & vlans themselves, automatically fixing issues, and dynamically generating & applying configuration to the switches based on customer configuration. This also tied into the "quick start" wizard that a customer could use to set up the rack when they first accessed it; I filled in the gaps missing in that wizard. Since this wizard was eventually used in the manufacturing process to test outgoing racks, I also created a script that could "reset" the rack to the state it needed when leaving manufacturing.Implemented rack-wide auditing system. This included an auditing management system which allowed customers to set up automatic audit package requests of audit system events, as well as real-time audit gathering.Created the initial asynchronous job engine. This engine ran all monitoring and deployment throughout the rack (referred to as "jobs"). It also separated job functions based on priority, managed recurring work, handled failing jobs, and dealt with balancing jobs of different runtimes.Moved the event infrastructure to a system that would be able to handle almost complete system failure. Also developed a dynamic system state infrastructure which defined relationships between hardware and software components, allowing an initial foray into a cleaner diagnosis of complete system health.Helped with other minor functionality such as creating and maintaining the messages & message translation infrastructure. Since I joined the project near it's beginning, I was able to see the project grow, and learned a lot about how storage-networking-compute fit together.As well as development, I also provided support for IBM support persons in the field. This included helping troubleshoot issues related to everything I helped develop. I also worked directly with customers when they had issues.
