About Kellie Whiteston

I am a learning experience and information designer based in Portland, Maine. I use an interdisciplinary approach to learning, principles of behavior change, effective visual design, and game mechanics to design engaging, memorable experiences and usable resources. I have a passion for creating environments that foster curiosity, innovation, and community.I hold a central, guiding belief that a person’s time is their most precious resource. When designing and implementing any program, I care as much about it effectively respecting a participant’s time as I do about meeting programmatic goals. In addition to prioritizing the usability of all resources, I insert play and fun as much as I can. With more serious or somber topics where playfulness is not as appropriate, I focus on including meaningful connections to the program.I come armed with degrees in anthropology, applied linguistics, and adult learning as well as over 20 years of experience working in the Learning and Development field. My favorite places to work with are institutes of learning, associations, and places that serve their communities.Aliases: Kellie Johnston
