I have represented both sponsors and investors in the formation and operation of numerous large and medium-sized real estate investment funds and private equity joint ventures. Additionally, I have represented various investors and users in a variety of acquisition, development, leasing and disposition transactions.My practice has encompassed a broad range of real estate and business activities, including the acquisition, development, financing, operation and disposition of low rise to high rise office buildings, industrial projects, regional and strip shopping centers, hotels, planned developments (including residential, commercial and mixed use condominium projects), and entitled residential and commercial development properties. I have counseled numerous institutional and private developers, lenders, investors, owners, operating businesses and construction companies. I have represented owners, investors, landlords, ground lessors and tenants in highly sophisticated tax and accounting driven development, joint venture and leasing activities, tax deferred exchanges, and development of environmentally sensitive or contaminated land. Lastly, I have consistently participated in a variety of pro bono real estate and corporate matters on behalf of charitable organizations including Affordable Housing Associates, Concord Community Economic Development Organization, Eastside Arts Alliance, Rehabilitation Services of Northern California, and ACLU of Northern California. I also have served on the Board of Directors of several charitable organizations, including the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation. I have been lucky to have been honored many times for my pro bono work, including the Humanitarian Award from the Berkeley Food & Housing Project. Prior professional honors have included being recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer and previously serving as the Chairman of the San Francisco Real Estate Roundtable.
