Working with Atlas Copco at Jaguar Land Rover as Synatec Engineer Support

I completed my work placement here in college, doing basic school administration and deployment software tasks. I was then bought back and hired after my graduation, to help and cover for staff on leave. During this time, I have been managing the whole school network, ranging from the virtual servers and the physical servers. I helped deploy a new web filtration system called ‘Securely’ to keep the safety of any online devices on the internet browser. I have been using various software’s such as Active Directory, Google Admin, Jamf, Securely, Aruba, Extreme Cloud IQ and Apple Manager. Being in a school environment I have had to provide on-call support to staff and students who are having any technical issues or access issues. This would mean learning and adapting to new systems like iSams, which is a school manager database.

Working here helped me adapt to certain situations that needed more priority and urgency. Helping events also demanded on the fly problem solving that I pride myself in. I also worked with a team meaning we had to be coordinated when approaching jobs.

I helped configure and evolve their network topology across the property, due to it also being a boarding school the network topology had to be split into sectors for each house and part of the school. I also helped with deploying software and updating software across the network in preparation for the new schoolyear. Due to working in the school I had to deal with on-demand IT problems and would quickly resolve them, this included hardware problems, software problems and repairs. I was trusted with working within the school database as well managing all tiered access and devices connected to the access points.
