I'm a multi-hyphenate creative and I love it here. What does that mean?? Well, I'm good at a lot of things!Simply put, I am a communication extraordinaire who enjoys brainstorming and implementing new creative campaigns, while developing strong relationships across corporate functions to align brand messaging for both internal and external audiences. I have a total of ten years relevant communications experience. At the core of all that I have accomplished, I am a storyteller who is passionate about creating engaging content. I’ve accomplished this as a college English professor, freelance writer, social media manager, content creator, and content director. I have worked in academic and non-academic spaces as a lecturer, speaker, writer, editor, curator, project manager, and content creator. As a hip-hop scholar and academic, I have 12 years of experience working in a collegiate setting teaching first-year writing and a variety of literature courses.I love telling stories so in 2017 I began freelancing. My main beat is arts & culture, and North Carolina hip-hop. Over the past several years, I have interviewed some of hip-hop’s most notable legends from DJ Jazzy Jeff to Ali Shaheed Muhamad (of A Tribe Called Quest) to Rapsody, Little Brother, and North Carolina’s own super producer 9th Wonder. My writing has been published in notable outlets such as The Indy Week, Okay Player, Vulture, and HotNewHipHop.  Did I tell you that I love hip-hop? Of course I did :) My love for hip-hop led me to begin planning and producing public-facing arts and cultural events, festivals, and programs. My love for hip-hop also led me to fall in love with being creative in general. Anything related to arts, entertainment and culture, I'm in!
