About Kyla Hippolyte

Somewhere in between devoting my time to conducting research, taking psychology courses, partaking in informal debates about the value of the Industrial/Organizational psychologist, and an eventual thesis, "An Evaluation: The Impact of Stereotype Threat and Other Factors on Perceptions of Employment Testing", I developed a niche interest in employment testing and decided to pursue a Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.During the tenure of my Master of Science program, I was introduced to an amalgam of I/O-related domains, examined mock cases, proposed interventions informed by statistical analysis, and collaborated on a graduate thesis: “An Examination: Extraversion and Locus of Control on Preference for Coaching Style.” As a result, my interests in I/O, budded by undergraduate coursework and experiences, developed. Specifically, I developed a knack for conducting measurement validation, the extrapolation of data to generate system-level solutions, and translating technical, complex information into digestible insights. While simultaneously being in pursuit of my MS degree, I held positions which afforded me the opportunity to aggrandize my understanding of human resources and make applications using the information ascertained from my I/O program. Through my experiences, I learned that the solutions to organizational challenges are often complex and not as intuitive as one would assume; thus, they must be proposed in a way that acknowledges not only science but also the cultural and contextual factors of the organization. As a result of my experiences, I have become adept at leading transformative initiatives, establishing HR infrastructures, and encouraging organizational success through talent management.
