Scheduled and coordinated subcontractors for reinforcing steel (JL Steel), pump trucks (SMECO), concrete finishers (Craftsman Concrete), and painters (Thomas Industrial Coating). Installed and monitored mass concrete temperature for all foundations and wall placements. The project was designed to reduce risk for residences and businesses in Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes from a storm surge resulting from a tropical event with an intensity that has a one percent chance of occurring annually. Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, the complex consists of a navigable floodgate, a pumping station, floodwalls, sluice gates, foreshore protection, and an earthen levee. Scheduled and coordinated subcontractors for reinforcing steel (Arcadia Rebar) and pump trucks (SMECO). Responsible for calculating deck grades for the Bidwell and SIP forms. Installed and monitored mass concrete temperature for all foundation placements. The I-10 twin spans suffered severe damage during Hurricane Katrina and had to be temporarily repaired under emergency contracts while a completely new twin span crossing was designed, permitted, and advertised for construction. The project entailed 1.1 miles of new twin bridges composed of 1,056 36-inch square piles (125,824 linear feet (lf)), bent caps, waterline footings, columns and pier caps, 456 BT-78 precast concrete girders (61,348 lf), structural steel main spans (1,886 tons), and a poured-in-place deck. The project was completed on schedule and budget. (Traylor Bros., Inc., Kiewit Southern Company, and Massman Construction Co., A Joint Venture ,$170.7 million) -
