"Energy" and "Environment" - Two words that are always on my mind. I am Kyle Rogers, a goal-driven Engineer in Training (EIT) who is enthusiastic about engineering projects related to energy and the environment. I undertook the challenge of attaining a PhD in chemical engineering to explore my interests in biomass and biofuels. The four things I enjoy most about chemical engineering are learning, teaching/spreading knowledge, overcoming a challenge, and working with a team. At the end of the day, I want to make a positive impact whether it be the development of a new innovative solution or the "Aha!" moment when I help someone accomplish their goals as well. I have 5+ years experience of analytical problem solving and using analytical equipment such as gas chromatographs, thermogravimetric analyzers, high-performance liquid chromatographs, and FTIR spectrometers. For me, hands-on experiences are always satisfying as I am fond of performing maintenance operations and assembling instrumentation in the lab. On top of the lab experience I have from my PhD; I also have extensive experience using MS Office software such as MS Excel and MS Visio to create process flow diagrams. I am also eager to learn new software that can be beneficial for my work such as Autodesk Fusion 360. If you would like to learn more about me, I welcome you to have a chat with me. A discussion about interesting engineering problems and solutions such as recycling plastics, finding new uses for paper, recycling electric car batteries, etc. is also very welcome!
