I've gained invaluable real-world skills from my work with Infinite Machine, an extra-curricular game development team hosted by Lawrence Technological University. We use professional practices such as task management software to allocate tasks and track deadlines, assign separate teams and assign team leads, and hold meetings to discuss problems and suggest ideas.From my extensive time working at Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, I've acquired countless interpersonal communication skills from interacting with customers and fellow coworkers. I've had to become good at solving problems on the fly using my own resources, because often times I was the most experienced person there. I've had to deal with both my own failures and chastising the failures of others, as well as taking the necessary measures to insure that the mistakes don't arise again.Working as a Coding Instructor at Code Ninjas has helped me spread my passion for learning and all things computers to the people that matter most: the young individuals that will one day themselves be out there navigating the wonderful, crazy world of tech. At the same time, I've been able to brush up on my core programming fundamentals and learn alongside the ninjas!In my personal free time, I've done a lot of work with JavaScript, specifically Node.js. It's a language that I'm very passionate about because it enables me to develop web apps that connect to people around the world. My projects are almost always centered around UX design - trying to create a better experience for the end-user. Notable things that I've contributed to are Pokemon Showdown! - a Pokemon battle simulator and chat room website with thousands of daily concurrent users, and BetterDiscord - an open-source client modification for Discord that enables CSS stylesheet and JavaScript plugin injection. My favorite personal project is a chat bot written in Node.js with a hard emphasis on UX design. It has helped me learn all sorts of useful skills such as API implementation, callbacks/promises, user moderation, gamification, database programming, information parsing, and regular expressions.As I mentioned earlier, I've always had a burning desire to create things that interact with others globally. Ever since I first joined the internet on my dad's old laptop he got from work, I've been obsessed with forming connections between myself and others. It would be a dream of mine to work in any sort of web development where I can give others the same feeling that my young self felt all those years ago.
