About Kyle Battle
I am a writer and higher education professional that’s always ready for a challenge, with an insatiable appetite for learning and tenacious work ethic. Here's a snapshot of some of the fun stuff: I toured the country in a band as a teenager, supporting acts such as Wang Chung and Less than Jake. I crossed both the equator and the international date line as a Nuke mechanic on a submarine. I led a private experiential-learning school during the Covid-19 Pandemic and taught at The Telling Room, the most accomplished youth-writing nonprofit in the country. Now I teach college writing at Western Michigan University, where I am the Assistant Director of First Year Writing.My writing has been published or won awards in Writer’s Digest, Vita Poetica, Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors, Vol. 13, and Portland Monthly Magazine. As a composer, lyricist, and librettist, the World Premier of my musical, “The Dead Memoirs,” premieres in Kalamazoo on Nov. 8th & 9th at the Dormouse Theatre!Curious about more?
