Led organization’s initiative to establish a new group to investigate customer complaints and significant system, software, and reagent issues. Manage complex and high-profile investigations related to business-critical issues. Serve as a liaison between the Field Service Group and Research & Development to identify and prioritize significant customer issues.

Managed the R&D, product design, application engineering, estimating, drafting, and manufacturing engineering functions for Bellcomb’s lightweight structural honeycomb/composite panels and stone panel systems. Worked with Sales and customers to understand product requirements and recommend innovative solutions. Evaluated new materials and adhesives to ensure Bellcomb had flexible manufacturing capabilities to meet a diverse product mix.

Managed the design and development of NSI’s standard line of automated industrial x-ray imaging systems and analysis software as well as custom systems that were designed to meet specific customer requirements. Directed the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation engineering, software engineering, quality assurance, safety, and information technology functions. Oversaw the research of new technologies and the design of new x-ray imaging systems. Worked closely with sales and customers to define product specifications and recommend comprehensive solutions for new applications. Played a key role in the management and implementation of an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Helped start up a new business unit for Malco that focused on providing professional product design and development services to small and medium sized businesses. Managed the quoting, research, product development, prototyping, and testing functions. Worked closely with customers to define product requirements and utilized a collaborative stage-gate product development process to ensure deliverables were met. Was accountable for hands-on design and building/testing of prototypes for key projects. Developed a network of independent design and development contractors that assisted in completing projects.

Managed the manufacturing engineering and quality assurance departments for Malco’s line of high quality hand tools that were sold into the HVAC and building construction markets. Oversaw the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and processes. Led the company’s Lean Manufacturing initiatives that resulted in significant improvements to productivity and quality. Traveled to and worked with manufacturers in Asia to set up manufacturing and quality assurance programs as part of Malco’s global sourcing initiatives. Managed the performance and life testing of new products as well as benchmark testing of competitive products.

Oversaw the design, development, and manufacturing of electro-chemical gas sensors and portable hand-held instrumentation used to monitor work environments. Managed the research, design, production and OEM sales of a line of electro-chemical gas sensors. Spearheaded the company’s efforts to expand into the confined space and combustion gas monitoring markets.

Managed engineering development projects and served as the principle engineer responsible for the mechanical engineering of electro-mechanical instrumentation used for HVAC setup and balancing, Indoor Air Quality monitoring, and respirator fit testing.
