I worked as a summer student learning the water reuse plant, working with hot lime softeners, anthracite after filters, weak acid cation exchangers, Heat-Recovery Steam Generator boilers, as well as sludge lagoons. In this position I received Confined Space Entry training, fire response training, defensive driver training, first aid level C, fall protection training, as well as working with contractors executing permits.

In this position I was responsible for a crew of people to perform landscape maintenance, primarily towing and using commercial ride on lawn mowers and various types of small equipment and power tools. I was responsible for on the job training as well as creating a schedule of which sites to do. This position proved my competency and abilities with the equipment and leading a team, as well as dealing with time sensitive tasks and safety issues. I was often required to diagnose and fix machinery on site with limited tools. I ran daily field risk assessments and daily equipment safety checks. I also provided biweekly equipment maintenance to the heavy and small equipment which was being used throughout the summer.

In this position I was responsible for the maintenance of the grounds of properties throughout the 54 schools throughout the division. This has entailed the use of equipment such as large mowers and small engine equipment such as weed whips, backpack blowers, and paddle wheels. In this position I was also responsible for driving company trucks with various trailers. I also helped the irrigation specialist maintain irrigation systems on various properties. I also helped out with fall and winter including concrete work, steaming of drains, plowing snow, and sanding across the division. Throughout my years working at Rocky View, being mechanically inclined has proven to be very useful from working on vehicles, using angle grinders, fixing and working with hydraulic equipment.

In this position I was responsible for ensuring that the school was unlocked before and locked after use while ensuring that the participants used the facility in a safe and respectful manner during the evening. This position was shut down due to COVID-19.

In this position I was responsible for a small crew of people to perform landscape maintenance of the grounds of properties throughout the school division. In this position I gained experience working with and leading a team of employees. Building trust and proving to my supervisors I am fit for leading my peers.

In this position I was responsible for fairway and green maintenance and care. This entailed operating small tractors and gas powered lawn maintenance tools. I worked with a number of other employees in a team concept.

In this position I was responsible for the cleaning of all dishes and kitchen appliances within the restaurant and food preparation area. I also worked on the food preparation line preparing the kitchen food products for use by the cooks. I had also completed deliveries for customer’s orders as well as completing errands for management.
