I returned to Toric this summer as an intern, where I focused mainly on quality control and testing. My main responsibility was to test every panel that comes through production before it was powered up. I ensured each panel was wired perfectly to prevent component damage and to expedite the troubleshooting process during power-up. I also performed the initial testing and setup for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), which also expedited the power-up process. Finally, I trained new employees to build and wire panels.

I worked in the Panel Shop at Toric Engineering during my breaks from school. At work, I interpreted engineering drawings to construct complete electrical panels. I installed and wired electrical automation parts (relays, circuit breakers, PLCs, VFDs, etc.) into enclosures with the use of hand and power tools. Then, I neatly finished the product according to the high standards of the company and of UL. I brainstormed and collaborated with fellow panel builders and engineers on a daily basis to solve issues with the panels. I started in the shop with no knowledge of electrical theory and barely any experience with power tools. After working in the shop for 4 years, I gained enough skill to train new employees for the role and to land two summer internships. I have also built a very solid foundation in electrical theory, controls, and the function of electrical automation components that can translate to any job involved with controls and automation.

I completed a month-long internship with Toric Engineering during a company-wide change in CAD software. I worked with engineers and other interns to build a part database for the company, which will expedite the design and submittal processes for the engineers in the future. I collected data for parts we used from manufacturers, distributors, and engineers and input the data into Excel following specific naming conventions. I also created a data sheet with a hyperlink for each component I worked with, allowing the engineers to efficiently locate the part data when performing submittals.

I worked as a cashier, expediter, server, and in the drive-thru during my time at Chick-Fil-A. This was an extremely fast-paced work environment, as our restaurant would often rank within the top 20 Chick-Fil-A's nationally for sales. I learned how to interact with customers and how to quickly problem solve. I also learned how to work efficiently and communicate effectively to keep up with the fast-paced work environment.
