• The Software Guild is a rigorous training program that prepares apprentices with the skills it takes to become software developers. This involved constant immersion and application of Java language fundamentals, including class modeling, looping constructs, exception handling, and unit testing.• Gained extensive experience designing databases and writing SQL queries in MySqlWorkbench. Demonstrated understanding of proper relational database design by writing databases for tracking hotel reservation information, managing CMS posts and users, as well as tracking superhero sightings and organizations. All tables are normalized to 3NF and all columns are given logical names to enable easy SQL query writing.• Used Spring’s Data Access features to enable communication between data layer and business logic layers primarily through the use of the JdbcTemplate class.• Built a RESTful web service that allows users to track superhero sightings and make updates to a roster of superheroes, superhero organizations, and locations. This service has a public-facing component which marks all recent sightings on a map using the Google Maps API and allows users to view up-to-date details for each sighting object.• Created a Content Management System for the Robert Street Projects gallery. This system used a basic implementation of TinyMCE to enable non-technical users to update the Robert Street Projects’ website and manage posts regarding current and upcoming gallery events. This CMS employed Spring security to restrict access to unregistered users while giving administrators full control over user access. All of these features are effectively hidden from the public. The final product is an elegant, seamless website.
