As a software systems engineer for SAIC, I worked on two teams at Sandia National Laboratories dealing in the design and creation of microservice-oriented web applications using the .NET Core and Angular frameworks, as well as the enhancement of RESTful web services used throughout the labs.

As a software developer, I fulfilled several roles - I worked Independently to build and maintain employee-facing ASP.NET applications for the employee website. I acted as the administrator for our employee website’s MS SQL Server instance, and I also worked on a small team to design, develop and test JavaScript and Java applications, tools and batch scripts that run on the core transactional system.Examples of my work include:- Helping streamline the process for front-end personnel to request member check images, designed, created and deployed an ASP.NET application for requesting member check images that stored and forwarded requests into a workflow for administrative staff, reducing downtime and saving an average of 20 hours a week on such requests.- Modernized an application written in RPG that allowed staff to book tram passes for members by rewriting it into a JavaScript application for a new core system. Upgraded the performance and appearance using modern JavaScript frameworks, such as Moment.JS to display pass availability. The new application performed a booking in less than half the time of the original application.

As a systems administrator, I was responsible for maintaining 24/7 optimal performance of the core system, an IBM iSeries, to ensure continuity of business operations. I regularly collaborated with programmers and technicians to troubleshoot complex systems-level issues and developed technical documentation for the department. A typical shift involved monitoring night-batch job processes and system logs, documenting errors, performing system backups, and troubleshooting system and batch job issues.Volunteered to create, implement, and test automated system jobs when the head technology administrator left the department.
