Physical Scientist/Research Analyst
I am part of a team that conducts basic research and exploratory sensor exploitation algorithm development, in order to provide sensor exploitation algorithms for remote sensing and provide assessments/evaluations for software packages previously built. As a team, we develop: sensor, target, and threat feature and signature understanding through physics modeling to drive sensing approaches, as well as, assist in matching sensing products to exploitation requirements. I am the team lead for the Information Technology group, focusing on advanced research techniques and the way ahead for our branch's two main products: collaboration suite and sensor data management platform. The sensor management side requires the development of a new hybrid-cloud architecture designed to add search/discovery capabilities and data governance to the team's data collections. This focuses on information security/restrictions and the use of open source applications. On the collaboration side, the goal is to modernize the current solution and reduce infrastructure management/increase accessibility for our customers. The new solution will incorporate integration with other collaboration tools and the above data management solution. While working in this position, I have also created several research documents focusing on: modernization of Activity-Based Intelligence in the field and relaying the information back to a central location, applications to aid people with specific disabilities and even a flat architecture to store data for wider dissemination. In addition to the above roles, I am also in charge of the division infrastructure and maintaining common tasks: budget, IT refresh, licenses, contracting (SCI COR), TASS, vault custodian, etc.
