GUEST TEACHER/ SEVENTH GRADE – LIFE SCIENCE TEACHER: Taught seventh grade life science to a diverse socio-economic group of children at Henry World School/ DPS. My Students scored nearly 35% higher than district average and 5% greater than contemporaries in two other cores on standardized test. Worked with peers and district officials to implement state and district standards within the International Baccalaureate – Middle Years Programme. I feel very comfortable teaching though the areas of interaction as a lense to focus my student’s acquisition of knowledge though prior experiences and learning; as well as training I’ve received through TiR and ELA coursework which have allowed me to differentiate for all my students, and know that the strategies I’ve learned through the SIOP model have made me a more affective teacher by successfully implementing content and language objectives within each lesson. Operation and maintenance of Coors and Meura mash filter presses.D.E.FILTER/ PRIME SPECIALIST – Worked closely with the shift blender to blend, carbonate, chill, filter and cellar all Keystone products. Responsible for use and maintenance of all PRIME CIP/ SIP systems. BOTTLE/ CAN LINE STERILIZER – This group worked closely with product control, can and bottle line personnel and the government cellar to reduce warm storage breakdowns by over 10,000% . CIP/ SIP all can and bottle fillers. Procurement of necessary cleaning supplies and chemicals. MICROBIOLOGY TECHNICIAN – BREWING, FERMENTING, CONDITIONING, PACKAGING Sample collection, identification, sterile Millipore filtration and inoculation of wort, beer, yeast and A/ B water samples. Sterile technique for sample in Petri and forced incubation broth. Preparation of agars and broths (autoclave), cell/ colony counts, serial dilution, yeast propagation, identification of microorganisms. ISO 9000 protocol. Safe and clean laboratory practice.CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN – BARLEY, MALTING, BREWING, ALCHOHOL – Sample collection and I.D. of water, yeast, wort, beer, barley and malt. Malt friability. Infra-tec (photometric) determination of malt color, and green malt moisture (manual method also). Extract viscosity. SCABA beer analysis (%ETOH – V/V-W/W, specific gravity, °Plato, app. degree of fermentation, calories and color). Photometric determination of color, soluble/ total protein (diastatic power), free amino nitrogen, chill haze, and bitterness of (extract), wort and beer (IBU). Metal analysis through atomic absorption. ISO 9000 protocol. Safe and clean laboratory practice.

Worked through a grant with the University of Alaska – Anchorage, towards the start up of their Observer Training Facility. Served as technical editor and illustrator of course text. Taught lessons and labs on fish and crab I.D/ measurements and biology, sampling strategies, use of forms, communications with Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and Survival at Sea.

NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE - GROUNDFISH OBSERVER – worked as a fisheries biologist in the U.S. Domestic and Joint Venture Groundfish Fisheries programs. Sampled on longliners, bottom/ pelagic trawlers crabbers and shore based plants. Responsibilities included gathering data on: marine mammal by-catch/ interaction/ sightings, by-catch of marine birds, incidental by catch of non targeted and prohibited species, age (otolith/ scale collection)/ sex/ length and weight frequencies, predator prey relationships, determination of haul/ set size and composition, catch per unit effort, communication of these data to NMFS. Also cruise brief and debriefings.ALASKA DEPARTMENT of FISH and GAME - SHELLFISH OBSERVER – Responsible for documenting total % of sub-legal or illegal female crab during offloading of catcher boats or during fishing operations on catcher/ processors. Crab carapace measurements, fish length and weight frequencies, set composition, and catch/ unit effort. Documentation of marine mammal interaction/ sightings, communication of these data to ADF&G weekly and during cruise debriefings.
