In this role I developed and provided technology solutions to business processes for Settlement Operations. During my time with Fiserv, I took the initiative to research and learn many different technologies including coding effectively in VBA, Power BI, Power Query and python. My main focus in this role was to gather data from various sources such as SQL Databases, online websites, IBM mainframe and text/Microsoft Excel files, and to transform, reconcile and analyze the data. This is most often completed through the development of automated processes developed in python, VBA, Power Query or Power BI.I have received a lot of recognition in this role, receiving a limelight award in April, 2020 for contributions towards the department, being added into the LEAD program for preparing future leaders and being promoted in April, 2021. Along with these achievements, I have served as a mentor to others in the organization and have been assigned a mentor to help take my skills to the next level. This has also opened the opportunity for me to work with many other teams within the department.

In this role I provided actuarial consulting services to single employer sponsors of defined benefit pension plans. My responsibilities included managing between many competing requirements and deadlines across multiple client teams. This included the preparation and presentation of GAAP and IAS financial reporting, actuarial funding reports and projections, compliance with external and governmental auditors, complex benefit calculations, data reconciliations, and government filings.This role challenged me to be able to effectively communicate and meet the needs of clients, and to stay very detail oriented in order to ensure that my work passed actuarial and auditor reviews. Furthermore, I was involved in many special projects which included plan terminations, experience studies and de-risking. In this role, I often took the initiative to question how tasks were completed and began my journey in the use of technology solutions to improve various business processes. Specifically, I was able to utilize VBA to automate the generation of a life annuity table under various life expectancy and interest rate assumptions, and I was able to create an experience study template which served to standardize how the studies were completed as well as vastly decrease the time required to complete a study.
