I’ve worked at the promenade towers for over 8 years. There are over 1000 units and two different towers, which are the North and South. Both buildings are 20 stories tall. I live on site and pull calls once a month. I started out as a maintenance worker, was promoted to become an engineer through the previous chief engineer, who loved my work ethic and attitude, and then I was promoted to earn the title of assistant chief engineer through both my general manager and chief engineer. I oversee the engineering department and all the equipment in the central plant, which includes 3–500 HP Cleaver Brooks steam boilers, 2–980-ton Trane chillers, plate and frame heat exchangers, air compressors, switchgear, 2–250 KW generators, closed loop systems, domestic systems, roof-top exhaust fans, garage exhaust fans, air handlers, and multiple backflows throughout the building. I schedule all fire alarm, sprinkler, load bank, boiler, and WSSC issues. I’m in charge of all operations and report to the senior facility manager and the general manager. I’ve worked on and overseen numerous million-dollar projects, such as the installation of a brand-new cooling tower, restaurant renovation, and multiple domestic and closed-loop water shutdowns. With more projects on site, such as an electrical breaker replacement and a massive lobby renovation. I hold numerous certificates through N.A.P.E, a CFC universal, and hold a stationary engineering license through the state of MD.
