As an engineer I worked on Cisco's line of Nexus 9000, 5000 and 6000 switches, working on software of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). Worked on projects involving writing software in C and C++, debugging both software and network issues, unit testing various TCP/IP forwarding features for new data center switch platforms. Was part of a team tasked with developing a new embedded C Software Development Kit for integrating Cisco’s Tahoe ASIC family with NXOS.Experience with: Layer 2/3 Forwarding, IPv6, Ethernet Port Security, Multichassis Link Aggregation, Ethernet Port Security, Network Segmentation, Packet-based VLAN Auto-configuration, Network Virtualization, In-Service Software Upgrade (ISSU), Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), ASIC VirtualizationDeveloped Python tools for identifying bugs and debugging network switches and ASIC registers.Worked on Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI) with Microsoft and Open Compute Project, providing standardized APIs to program Cisco ASICs in a Debian environment without NXOS. These APIs would become part of the Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) open source network operating system, allowing the usage of network hardware and ASICs from different vendors within cloud data centers.
