Kyle acted very much as a trusted liaison between what seemed at the time to be two very distant parties enabling the transition from conceptualisation to the creation of comprehensive technical specifications. Fundamentally you aren’t in Production if there are questions to be asked. Over the 6 months following Kyle’s arrival, we standardised production of art assets providing a clear answer to questions pending. This was so successful in its implementation that 4 months down the line the Art Department was a position to begin outsourcing the production of assets under the guidance of the technical documents produced with minimal further intervention from Blockade. In terms of Skillset, Kyle’s abilities are incredibly malleable giving him the ability to adapt to new systems and applications with minimal downtime. This was proven in numerous cases during his work at Blockade with fast transitions between work on Unity’s High Definition Render Pipeline, Unity WebGL and Esoteric Spine Runtimes (in this case working directly with the Esoteric development team to resolve specific issues). His work included a modular custom Non-Linear Editor that worked within Unity’s timeline. This enabled Blockade to transition towards a siloed approach within content production allowing technical artists to work exclusively on areas of the project applicable to their given field. As well a numerous efficiency benefits, his achievements allowed for the creation of a more cinematic experience that honoured the original intention of the product’s Producer and Game Designer. Kyle’s has shrewd attention to detail when it comes to documentation not only on a macro level but also a company level assisting heavily in the production of project management documents as well as roadmaps and keystone pieces such as the product’s Game Design Document. Teambuilding activities are important in the upkeep of team morale. Kyle introduced a project roleplaying session which enabled the Engineering and Executive team to greater understand the workings and artistic vision of the product’s game world in an extremely engaging and creative way. This collation of achievements is well and truly the “tip of the iceberg” in terms of the benefits that Kyle Garner brought to the company in terms of his work, personality and general passion and enthusiasm for the arts of solving problems and creating in-depth interactive experiences that audiences cherish.
