Pursuing my dream of teaching while in high school, I wore many hats at this family-owned, family-oriented tutoring facility. I tutored younger kids in a group setting, older students individually, including college students. I designed and sourced our ACT/SAT prep materials and was the only tutor who taught them. I was trained in Reading Horizons by our reading specialist, in order to explicitly teach the rules of English word construction and decoding to dyslexic students. During the summer, I designed and co-taught the math curriculum, added weekly science exploration to the curriculum, and led literacy workshops while making the entire day fun and working at an ever-shifting pace with 3rd-8th grade kids.
