- As a member of the CORE team, I was assigned repositories to modernize into the Object Rocket infrastructure ecosystem. This required an extensive amount of discovery and repair of incompatible packages, files that were no longer relevant, and making sure that the repo was up to standards with our CircleCI execution and linting.- The AMMO team (Automation Mitigation Monitoring Operations) was created to solve efficiency problems in the organization. Here we would automate pipelines, unblock people by fixing scripts, and generally trying to remove as much toil as possible. We were given wide autonomy to work.

- Rewrote CI/CD pipeline from scratch using a combination of Github Actions and Kubernetes.- Added automation and documentation to remove dependencies on latent or lost knowledge.- Lead a small team to rewrite the orchestration of our automated QA end-user acceptance testing which allowed us to inject ansible scripts during VM builds so that we could test across multiple distributions offered in our cloud.

- Maintained and upgraded Rackspace's OpenStack Public Cloud OnMetal (baremetal as a service). This involved reverse engineering all networking components which involved the dhcp servers, ironic-agent (PXE agent), and both top-of-rack switch and aggregator configurations. - Managed the cloud architecture that backed up our baremetal services, including up to the customer REST API calls.- Monitored and would run maintenance via ipmi commands over our DRAC interfaces to clean, wipe, and restage servers that developed various issues.

- Software design and life cycle for nova (virtualization), glance (images and snapshot repository), and neutron (software defined networking) projects.- Lead for servers, images, and networking on SpinUp project September 2019-April 2020, a facade reseller project for reselling Rackspace cloud resources. Singlehandedly designed and implemented account signup process end-to-end that integrated the SpinUp front-end with various Rackspace CMS, identity services, and account registration. This same integration monitored account states via various cloud feeds subscriptions to keep a cached copy of the customer state for SpinUp.

Developer:- Improved Object Relational Models (ORMs) to improve database performance for repeated queries to the OpenStack neutron (software defined networking) database. This was especially important when we introduced security groups, which could result in a massive influx of database calls to keep update values in sync with those applied on the hypevisors.- General feature improvements, bug fixes, code culling, etc. Your basic mid-junior level software developer stuff.- Mentor junior members of the team.Tiger team:- I was temporarily assigned as an individual contributor to assist another business unit with coding projects. Such projects included creating custom Ansible modules for Artifactory. These modules were intended to maintain user, access, and repository management via a pipeline developed by our network security team.

- Managed software development life cycle for OpenStack neutron, Networking as a Service. Utilizing a custom Rackspace plugin, quark, we added additional features to Rackspace NaaS (security groups, shared ip) in addition to keeping the quark plugin in line with neutron as it evolved upstream.- Continued to manage and run deployments across all regions (internal and production) for Rackspace NaaS.

- Advance internal CI/CD pipeline for neutron (networking as a service) project written in Python using Ansible. The application needed to be promoted across three separate internal environments in a development->preproduction->production model.- Manage production deployments for neutron which involved deployment plans, change management, customer communications, rollbacks and end user acceptance testing.- Expanded the ability to repave our development environment for fast feature testing.- Expanded metric gathering and reporting for production.

Programmer/Developer:- Eventually lead the QA team responsible for automated end-user testing (Selenium) against an expansive internal website for a customer HR management system. Primary focus was expanding the codebase to accommodate a growing HRMS. Where time permitted, we focused on reduction and simplification of the existing test suite to improve test accuracy and runtime.Continuous Integration/ Continuous Development:- Maintained QA project CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins and python Fabric scripts.- Headless hosting of various browsers to run parallel tests against redacted live database dumps. Parallelism was the focus for more efficient feedback.- Developed new QA fixtures that would adapt to changes in production as the application evolved using OOP.- Created MySQL stored procedures and functions for regression suite. A combination of these procedures and features maintained a stateful database using hashes to compare tables to a shadow schema. If a table was out of sync, foreign key constraints were dropped and the table was dropped and recreated with data from the shadow schema. This decreased QA suite runtime from 11 hours to 4 hours. I am still proud of this one.Internal Management:- Coordinated with the QA team to iterate and adopt new processes to cope with the increased pace of growth in the HRMS. This included rotating "on-call" responsibilities so that other members of the team could focus on extending the QA codebase to cover new features or improvements depending on the sprint requirements (see "non-existent free time").

- Maintained and upgraded internal USAA IT Service Desk website, which included automation for various customer problems exposed as an "On-demand self diagnostic" with preferences. This involved everything from the customer initiating a remote system cleaning to a searchable FAQ.- Maintained IT service desk desktop applications, both web-based (JavaScript, classic ASP) and locally installed (C# .NET 3.5). USAA was progressively moving their employee desktops to Windows 7 from Windows XP, so applications needed to understand how to communicate with the hybrid environment when accessing and diagnosing issues.- Directed team from a waterfall development model to an iterate development model just before I left. This included scheduling stand ups and collaborative brain storming sessions between contractors from three separate companies.

- Top of training class, with excellent marks in administration.- Maintained an excellent level of call quality while learning how to troubleshoot the 3500+ proprietary USAA applications (OJT) in addition to Windows administration.

Shipping and Logistics:- Researched, discovered and signed a new shipping provider which, coupled with streamlining company-wide shipping habits, resulted in an overall 70% reduction in shipping costs with an increase in shipping volume of 50%.- Responsible for administration for company-wide shipping and logistics.GPS Inventory & Management:- Developed a new workflow management system to increase the intra-departmental efficiency of GPS device tracking, expenditure, and contractor responsibility.- Used MySQL and database queries to test and troubleshoot inoperative hardware in addition to maintaining an accurate inventory of over 400 devices while they were deployed in the field.- Provided feedback for firmware updates on custom GPS devices to increase tracking reliability in addition to transitioning and decommissioning devices, resulting in an overall annual savings of $20,000.Mapping Technician:- Interpret and apply client requests through industry grade GIS software to produce high quality sales maps that met or exceeded client expectations.- Worked directly under the Director of Technology to develop streamlined scripts to increase mapping department productivity and efficiency.
