• Train and assist new technicians on how to use a dichotomous key to sort a variety of aquatic invertebrate samples. • Regularly sort aquatic drift samples which involves quantifying and identifying a variety of invertebrates.• Participate in and lead a variety of field data collection operations including regular monthly sampling operations, seasonal river trip collections, and a variety of other fieldwork.• Inventory and maintain both lab and field equipment used for day to day sample processing and regular sampling operations. • Received MOCC training to regularly operate watercraft for sampling operations.• Operate USGS vehicles safely, including operation of 4-wheel-drive vehicles on rugged, back-country roads. • Collaborate and train with other departments to assist in field operations and lab processing of samples. Including fish monitoring operations, suspended sediment sample collections and processing and dust collection for mine site operations• Regularly sort aquatic drift, sticky and light trap samples which involves quantifying and identifying a variety of invertebrates.• Perform data entry and quality control of data from a variety of sample types into department database.
