Assisting in research on the p53 family proteins and their targets and how these proteins contribute to tumor suppression and tumorigenesis in vitro and in vivo.

Researching in an immunology laboratory under a Ph.D. student on in vivo testing for viral perturbation of host metabolism and viral interactions throughout evolution, with an emphasis on relationships to human disease. Under the Ph.D. student, I shadowed and assisted in their work. Their workflow included the isolation & purification of their adenovirus vector plasmid, growing & passaging the host cells, infecting the host cells, RNA extractions & quantification, cDNA library & quantification, real-time PCR, and data analysis. Worked in our research laboratory as well as the UC Merced Stem Cell Instrumentation Foundry(SCIF) for Cytometry. The SCIF was where we did the cell culturing and learned flow cytometry & FACS work.
