I am passionate about nature conservation in Northern Ireland and have built on my education and qualifications over 14 years experience with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. I have strong skills in field work, survey methods/techniques, botany, Lepidoptera, GNSS technologies, GIS, mapping, ornithology, report writing, planning legislation, EIA/ES and designated site management. I have strong communication skills and enjoy working independently and as part of a team to achieve a goal; I’m a consistent finisher who always comes through and delivers.I have strong family connections with Norway and have spent a lot of time travelling throughout the country, conducting scientific glacial and ecological research in Lyngen, Nigardsbreen and Svalbard for Queens University Belfast and University of Ulster Coleraine.I enjoy being in the mountains and have climbed and toured extensively across the UK, Europe and Scandinavia. I have strong skills in leadership, motivation and the mental skills needed to keep going when it gets really tough. I regularly apply these skills in the work place to ensure each member of my team knows what is expected of them, what their objectives are and to communicate effectively if they are feeling under pressure. I am a great believer in commendation and regularly acknowledge the teams contribution and delivery to strategic targets.
