In my role as a Recruitment Consultant at SevenSteps ABM, I am responsible for sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top talent for our construction clients in the Dallas and Austin areas. I utilize a strong company network built up over a number of years, mainly working on Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimator and similar positions. I worked as a Tar Operative under my Fathers team leadership while I tried to navigate a tough graduate job market. In this short term role my responsibilities involved:- Ensuring barriers and cones are safely set up before work on site continues.- Compliant to Health & Safety (SHEQ) - PPE , Hardhat, Steel boots etc- I barrelled anywhere between 5-12 tonne of Asphalt and Base (Tar) everyday.- Operated heavy machinery such as still saws , whacker plates and GAP equipment.- Reinstated roads and paths that was dug up to gain access to electricity cables.- Learned the basics with white lining, tarring, drop kirbs and reinstating residential areas- Ensuring site is cleaned up properly and of course ensuring site is safe at the end of the day for residential use.
