The Diversity in Doctoral Education and Scholarship (IDDEAS@Wharton) program is a two-day program seeks to attract a diverse group of promising undergraduate students and introduce them to business research at the doctoral level.

The Data Science for the Public Good (DSPG) Young Scholars program is a summer immersive program held at the Biocomplexity Institute’s Social and Decision Analytics division (SDAD). Entering its seventh year, the program engages students from across the country to work together on projects that address state, federal, and local government challenges around critical social issues relevant in the world today. DSPG young scholars conduct research at the intersection of statistics, computation, and the social sciences to determine how information generated within every community can be leveraged to improve quality of life and inform public policy.

The HBCU Minecraft Education Edition Hackathon is focused on building a voice and advocacy through coding. This challenge Makes an impact in building awareness around HBCUs and the importance of representation in esports by participating in a Minecraft: Education Edition hackathon! In this challenge all teams are tasked with designing an esports challenge on Minecraft: Education Edition to be played by K-12 students. We are tasked with building a model of our school’s “Yard” as the arena for the challenge. Our goal is to attract students to attend our HBCU and raise awareness about using technology to educate the students. Game play and the winning game developers will be showcased by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars' Serious Games Initiative at Esports &Education

AT&T and WarnerMedia virtually joined the fifth annual AfroTech World for the AT&T’s HBCU Innovation Challenge, in which 25 student teams from 17 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) competed by developing innovative solutions that use available AT&T 5G bandwidth capacity to help our communities. The solutions could be for healthcare, education, low-income communities, public safety.

The new IBM-HBCU Quantum Center announced this week at IBM’s Quantum Summit is a multi-year investment that will bring together researchers and students across a network of 13 HBCUs. The program will provide these schools access to IBM quantum computers via the cloud, educational support for students learning to use the Qiskit open source software development framework, and funding for undergraduate and graduate research – all to create a more diverse quantum-ready workforce from students studying not just physics and chemistry, but computer science and business, and more. Students at the participating HBCUs will become familiar with this technology and have career options rooted in quantum computing.

- Participated in an intense three month development program that focused on educating individuals on keys topics such as: financial literacy, professionalism and soft skills.

The United States Department of Agriculture announced the selection of 30 university students who will attend USDA’s 2020 Agricultural Outlook Forum as participants of the USDA Future Leaders in Agriculture Program. These undergraduate and graduate students will participate in a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., capped off by their attendance at the Forum, USDA’s largest annual meeting, held February 20-21, 2020 in Arlington, Va.Since 2007, USDA has hosted undergraduate and graduate students at the Forum to enable real-world learning opportunities in contemporary agribusiness, scientific research, and agricultural policy. The program selects 20 university undergraduates and 10 graduate students based on essays on agricultural careers and challenges. These students major in agriculture-related studies, including business, economics, communications, nutrition, food science, and veterinary studies. Finalists are selected from land-grant universities, Hispanic-serving institutions, and non-land-grant colleges of agriculture.During their visit to Washington, D.C., students will take part in a USDA briefing and discussion of career opportunities with agriculture leaders in academia, government, and industry. They will tour the nation’s capital, attend the Forum, and will meet with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.
