I have the pleasure of teaching Social Studies, SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) and leading our 3-5 Gifted program. I am also Lead Teacher for grades 3-5, co-director of our School Choir, lead our Chess/Checkers Club, and am the Grievance Chair for our local NJEA chapter, among other roles. I was a Founding Member of Mastery Molina, in North Camden. My first year, I was a 4th grade teacher. For Year 2, I grew into being a 3-5 Language Arts teacher. At Mastery, teachers were given ample opportunity to grow, and I certainly matured, especially as a Writing Teacher. I also served as a co-coach of Softball and Cross Country and proudly served as the school's Athletic Director for Middle-School Sports.

The face of PSN for all kickball leagues, ensuring player expectations were met and managing umpires to confirm all rules are understood and consistent officiating was provided league wide. Additionally, I officiated softball, soccer and broomball in compliance with all league rules, while maintaining a professional image and relationship with players.

Via Tall Tales with Kyle J, I developed a comprehensive knowledge of best practices in art theory, artistic media, and creative engagement along with creation, oversight, and assessment of these major projects: Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts: Interactive Storytelling for the NEA’s Big Read program, highlighting Poe, Hemingway, London, and Anaya. Adaptations of stories for creative movement and performances geared toward preschool and primary students, with over 1000 students captivated each year (2012-14).Rutgers University Civic Engagement: Character Education Workshops for 120 4th-8th graders with mediums of Storytelling via Personal Narratives, Film, and Theatre (2013-14). Historic Philadelphia Storytelling Residency: Historical tales at the Once Upon a Nation Carpenter’s Hall bench, with stories of bank robberies, pirates, and the first fire engine for participants of ages 3-93. 9,000 audience members were a part of the stories (2014).The Noyes Art Museum of Stockton College: Castles and Dragons Shadow Puppet Art Camp for 1st - 5th graders, with kids writing original stories and creating short films (2014).Camden County Library (NJ) Spring Residency: Interactive folktales at each of the eight branches, with themes of Trees, Dinosaurs, and Environmental Animals for ages 3-7 (2014).

In 2011, I had the opportunity to take what I had learned in graduate school and apply it to the classroom via two long term substitute positions: one in the spring at Holy Name School in Camden, NJ (teaching 6-8th grade Language Arts) and one in the fall at Parkview Elementary in Westville, NJ (first teaching music and then teaching kindergarten. I was able to particularly apply my special-education background as I was responsible for adapting lessons to special education students (over 50% in classroom). I also had the opportunity to help write core-content standards curriculum for math. Finally, in addition to creating lessons and everything else that goes along with teaching, I was able to administer benchmarking and parent/teacher conferences, which gave me great experience for the future.

I was given free reign to create the schedule for the camp and thus designed it with emphasis on project learning, STEM curriculum, arts integration and athletics for campers aged 6-11. We also developed a Music Camp during the summer season, and it was here that I first heard Toto's "Africa," though the recording was with a South African chorus.
