Specialist, Infrastructure Services
CurrentAs the Specialist of Infrastructure Services, I am responsible for leading a team of technical professionals to design, deliver and maintain cloud, server, storage, and database services for the organization across Saskatchewan.Responsibilities:• Overseeing the day to day operations, planning, design, and development of infrastructure services including VMware vSphere, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.• Providing technical leadership to the infrastructure team and other business technology teams on projects and initiatives.• Developing short term and long term plans for ensuring effective and efficient cloud, server, storage and database services.• Assisting with the development, implementation and enforcement of appropriate policies, standards and procedures for the IT department.• Collaboratively working with the IT management team in the strategic planning of the IT Department by maintaining knowledge of hardware and software operations and industry, technology, and management trends.• Plans and oversees the functional administration for system/database that manages data; this includes recommending improvements and acting upon the decisions of others.• Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.• Participates in the development of department budgets with responsibility for specific elements.• Develop short term and long term budgets including monthly forecasts.• Participate in the hiring process including creating job descriptions, selecting candidates and performing interviews.• Design and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies.
