Senior Investigator
Current• Audits a variety of benefit plans for compliance with ERISA, including fully-insured and self-funded health plans, defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans, single and multiemployer plans, health expense reimbursement accounts (e.g., HRAs, FSAs, HSAs), multiple employer plans (MEPs), and multiple employer welfare arrangements (MEWAs) private pension, and other employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with the fiduciary responsibility standards of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), and other federal laws and regulations.• Coordinates and provides support in civil litigation and criminal prosecutions involving ERISA with various federal agencies (i.e., IRS, Department of Justice, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation) and state insurance departments.• Performs analysis of financial statements, claims payments, and other data to assess compliance with ERISA, process weaknesses, and plan inefficiencies.• Advises employers of violations of the law; explains the requirements needed to achieve and maintain compliance.
