Digital Services Librarian
Current- Provide and promotes library reference & information services and readers’ advisory services in a variety of formats website, book discussions, special programs, etc.- Initiate and process interlibrary loan requests, including verification, searching, maintaining files, and contacting patrons.- Research interlibrary loan subject requests from other libraries.- Troubleshoot digital book and audiobook, and digital app patron inquiries.- Operate and manage the Tech Help Desk.- Read reference shelves; maintain daily reference statistics.- Assist in training new reference staff members.- Assist patrons in learning about library resources and services for independent use and research by providing informal instruction.- Collection development and weeding responsibilities, as assigned.- Oversee digital content purchases, patron recommendations, and budget for digital book and audiobook materials.- Create content for the website. Update and maintain the website as needed.- Take patron suggestions and searches book reviews for selection purposes.- Plan, schedule, and implement computer and/or technology instruction classes for patrons.- Assist the Head of Information Services in planning and directing departmental activities.- Develop informative handouts on library materials, services, reading lists, web resources, etc.; and conduct formal training sessions on how to use computers, databases, and the Internet to research information.- Offer outreach information services to the Barrington community, bringing library resources beyond the building to target underserved segments of the population.- Support library staff by troubleshooting software and hardware problems.- Build institutional knowledge by way of technical documentation and staff training.- Provide staff training on audiovisual equipment in each meeting space, including outdoor programs requiring technology, as needed. Provides public training on audiovisual equipment.
